F.A.Q.'s
1. Do I have to Pedal? No! The vehicle will go forward; stop and reverse all with the push of a button and the push of a thumb control. It’s that easy. Exercise intensity and duration is up to you! 2. Is it hard to steer? Not at all! Most people figure it out in 2 to 3 seconds. The bars push/pull like vertical handlebars. 3. If I climb a steep hill can I burn up the motor? It should never happen! The controller and motor are thermally protected to shut off and amp currents fused. The motor will, however, shut down for a minute if it is strained for too long a period of time and then reset itself. This all depends on weight, severity of incline, etc… 4. Do I have to wear a helmet? Less than 20 mph is according to local bicycle laws, licensed vehicles are according to local scooter or motorcycle laws. Check with your local enforcement. 5. Can these be licensed? Absolutely! But again, it depends on your local laws. We have a kit for headlight, running lights, turn signals, brake light, and horn. We’ll work with you on any thing else your local laws might require but the laws for these trikes and scooters or motorcycles should be the same. 6. To license do I have to have a motorcycle license? Probably; but you should be able to take the test in your very own licensed, super stable, don’t have to balance it, easy to ride ExerTrike or ExCar! 7. What batteries should I choose? Other than price there are two factors to consider when choosing batteries. The most obvious one is distance. 15 AH (standard) will take you 15 miles on average, 39 AH will take you 35 miles on average. Weight is the other factor, 34 pounds compared to 100 lbs is a lot easier to haul up a hill. If you go with 39 AH batteries you should consider 30 mph max motor, especially if you are heavy yourself, don’t like pedaling, or are in hilly country. 8. How safe are they? These vehicles are stable and easy to ride. The ExerTrike & ExerTrike EF must be cornered much more slowly and it helps to lean into the turn, they are inherently less stable and require some caution. Unlike a motorcycle or scooter they can’t slip out from under you when you turn in gravel or slick pavement. As for a crash with another vehicle, the lighter vehicle will always lose. Visibility is our best defense. That’s why we only make these trikes in fluorescent colors and provide a visibility flag with each one. Wear a helmet and drive defensively. Never assume you have the right of way and always use caution. 9. What colors are available? As we just stated visibility is our best weapon of survival on the road. We will only make these vehicles in fluorescent colors. So far we’ve found orange, green, yellow, and pink! 10. Is there an age limit? Again the local bicycle and scooter laws apply. Under 20 mph in some states, under 30 mph in others for the electric trike/bicycle laws, which apply to those under driving age. 11. Where can I get it worked on or adjusted? There’s nothing about this machine a good bicycle shop can’t fix except the motor and controller, they must be returned to us. The motor is a brushless hub motor with no gears, chains, etc. to break down or become damaged; you should get years of service from this machine. Motors and controllers are a fraction of the cost of most automobile and motorcycle repairs! 1. Do you have Product Liability Insurance? Yes-and it's not easy to get. You can not be 'fly by night' and you have to have a track record of knowing what you're doing to get Product Liability Insurance. Don't buy from anyone that doesn't have it. All major companies do. 2. Are you a member of the Better Business Bureau? Yes! We’re not afraid to arbitrate any problems. We're here to serve you and take care of these vehicles. 3. Are you the innovator or the follower? We’re the innovators. We're waiting on two patents with many claims. Ask yourself 'What subtle safety & performance issues might one miss by creating a product from a picture, description, etc. of our products'? 4. Do you have warranties or guarantees? Yes! 30 days on the controller, 90 days on everything else. 5. Are you a U.S. company? Yes! We’re a registered LLC in the state of Tennessee, Houston County. 6. Why is that important? Response to problems of all kinds will be affirmative and immediate. 7. What laws govern this type of vehicle? The national electric bike/trike laws limit this type of vehicle to 20 mph, some states allow 30 mph. To this point you ride as a bicycle. Check your local laws. Beyond this licensing is a good idea. My car goes over a 100 mph but the speed limit is still 70! 8. Can I get a street legal license? Yes, but again state laws vary. We have received our street legal license here in Tennessee and have a light/horn package to bring your trike up to the National standard. Again it’s up you to check local laws. |
